Dear all,

Please can you help identify these marks on a silver spoon I have.

Any help is much appreciated

http://www.925-1000.com/british_marks.html Based on the above info it is a British piece from 1909. The GD marks may represent the manufacturer but I cannot find it on the list. Maybe you can research more on the British Assay office's site.

The above post is incorrect. The spoon was made in London in 1809 by George Day, who was a registered spoon maker. Its a tricky mark to read because the town letter is missing (or not in view?). This happens occasionally on smaller items. The easiest clue that it is an older mark is the duty mark (the Kings head) Hope that helps!

Correct, duty marks were removed after 1890 so it could not be a 1909.
