Trying to figure out where this bottle holder came from. It has been in the family for a very long time - my grandmother (now 101) remembers a cork being secured in the cap and a bottle being held inside.

The bottom is fully removable, and is hallmarked but the hallmark is impossible to make out. It is obviously hand-made - the designs are completely cut out and the then hand-tooled.
