I HAVE A SILVER ENTREE DISH WHICH WAS RECENTLY GIFTED TO ME.
IT HAS DIMENSIONS OF 23CM BY 32 CM,(5.84 BY 8.13 INCHES ) AND IS RELATIVELY ORNATE.
THE LID HAS A REMOVABLE HANDLE, AND THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A MANUFACTURERS STAMP.
ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HANDLE IS STAMPED THE NUMBER 4 IN A CENTRAL SPOT, AND ABOVE THAT IS A CAPITAL "B".
\ADVICE ON THE ORIGIN, AGE AND VALUE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. |

From your description it is impossible to give you answers to your questions about origin, age and value as there are no clues to help us. What I can say is that your dish is unlikely to be silver. I say this because you do not describe any marks which would indicate any silver content whatsoever. On silver I would expect to see some sort of hallmarking or "sterling" or a number indicating fineness (925 or 800 for example). |

I wonder if the 4 means that it's part of a suite of entree dishes - and the others have been gifted to other family members?
