I have a pitcher. Onr the bottom it is marked Empire Silver Co ESC SHEFFIELD 1951. Could someone please help me determine the value of this piece. I think if I am understading if something is maked Sheffield it is a from of silverplating?[/img][/img]

It sounds as if your pitcher is electroplated. Electroplated wares generally have little commercial value and what value they have is very dependent on the state of the plating. I suggest that you look at eBay completed auctions for an idea of what similar pitchers are selling for.

So I am right in the notion that if it says Sheffield and has no other markings it is plated?
Thanks for your timely response!
