I have a serving knife and fork given to me by an elderly friend and would like to identify the hallmarks on them.

Hi Becky,
The mark is a silver plate mark for James Dixon & Sons. It was used between 1869 and 1879, when the trumpet mark was introduced, so this gives you a good idea of age.
Best regards
Daniel

Thanks I had my suspicions it was james Dixon & sons, But the absence of other marks confused me. I didnt know the date or whether or not it was silver plate. Thanks daniel.
