Hello everyone, I've only just started collecting. My husband bought me six teaspoons made by William Bateman in 1824 for our 25th wedding anniversary earlier this month. And now I'm hooked.

I have a few spoons which belonged to my Great Grandma. I think they are plated but the marks are difficult to read. I'm fairly sure that they are not English but possibly French. If anyone could point me in the direction of a book or websites that does foreign hallmarks I'd be grateful. I will try to photograph them and post.

Cheers

Liz

Hi Liz, and welcome to silver-collector.com.
We aren't specialists on foreign silver marks, but we will always do our best to help. If you post an image of the marks I will search through some books in my library and see if I can find anything out for you.

Look forward to seeing you around the forum.
Kindest regards
Daniel
