Help with marks please

Hello,

Could you please help identify two marks - a fleur de lis and an eagle looking left - on the back of the handle of a Towle sterling serving spoon (date late 19th century I think)? (Please see pictures attached.) I’ve also seen the fleur de lis on other silver flatware pieces but cannot trace its origin, ditto the eagle.

Your suggestions much appreciated!

Regards, Ursula

The “Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers” by Dorothy Rainwater et al., revised 5th edition, page 255, shows a fleur-de-lis and eagle with the text “La Fayette Silverware”, in the Towle section. Hope this will give you a starting point for your search.
