Could someone please explain the significance of these two symbols engraved on the handle of a very large stuffing spoon? I know what each one stands for individually, but would like to know the meaning when placed together. Thanks! Jack.
These insignia have always puzzled me - although the top one is obviously a family crest - what is it you have found out about them individually? Would be most interested for further reference.
I’d guess the lower one is for the Knights of St John or Knights Templar?

Thanks for your reply, John. I obviously wasn’t paying close attention, because I took a quick look at the upper figure and assumed it was a phoenix—WRONG!!!
The second I’ve heard referred to as a QUADRATE CROSS–you can google this and it will give you lots of information. That’s about all I know(which isn’t much!!!)
