Post subject: HELP DATING ELKINGTON PLAED TRAY		 Reply with quote

Could anyone please help dating this plated serving dish made by Elkington? I have referenced the dating info. @ www,silvercollection.it/Elkington.html and still can't come to any conclusion. There is no date letter evident to me anywhere on the piece the only making being as shown in thw photograph.
I was wondering if the fact that the E&C appear below the crown, all within the shield, signifies a clue? I read in a G Mappin EPNS guide that the use of the crown within the shield was banned in about 1897?
