i come across pieces of metal tha t look like silver which might have weights stamped on them such as 10 oz or 80gr. does this mean they are silver ?

Thanks for joining us on silver collector.....usually those marks are for the volume of a vessel - i.e. how much liquid it will hold, not the weight.
