Would someone mind casting an eye over this pair of vases, please? A knowledgeable friend in the ‘trade’ saw me buy them and said Japanese. Is he correct and if so, what might be a rough date of manufacture? Finally, is the signature recognisable?
One is mounted on a wooden stand, the other is loose and the stand has the fretted ring missing (useful for seeing the impressed mark on the vase base). Each vase measures approx 130mm tall and is (hand?) engraved with a peacock in front of bamboo. The one without the base weighs 150g.
