Hello everyone, Any tips for cleaning a gilt bowl of a sterling spoon? Could one use regular silver polish or a polishing cloth or will that remove the gilt? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Best to use a liquid polish as these are more gentle than paste or wadding. I use silvo liquid for these jobs with a soft cloth.
You can use powder soda, its a good Clean-Ups agent for cleaning sterling spoon.

Sorry, Jonathan, but Silvo is on my “Extremely Abrasive” list (see here: hermansilver.com/silver-poli … atings.htm). I would go up that list and use cleaners in either the “No Abrasion” or “Extremely Mild Abrasion” categories.
i have this silver tray…i know tht its sterling silver…i dont know the age however…it was made by the frank smith silver co…he only produced from 1886 till 1958 when he died. i planned on selling the tray and dont know if cleaning it will increase of decrease the value.ive included some pics…any opinions or info is appreciated…tnx
