The hurricane is bearing down on south Louisiana and my family here in Baton Rouge. We are about 40 feet above sea level and safe from storm surge flooding. We expect hurricane force (75 mph +) winds here for 24 to 36 hours beginning tonight. We have a large diesel generator and plenty of fuel so we will be comfortable at least. Power will probably be out for up to a week and my internet connection will go down soon. About two million poeple are evacuating the low lying areas around New Orleans. This could be a lot worse than Katrina three years ago.
