A Victorian Hairbrush...Sterling with Gold??

I think this is my last question. I have this hairbrush that is either sterling or plate but is also surrounded by something that is gold in color. I don’t find any hallmarks or anything else on it. Heavily tarnished and used. Is it worth anything at this point or just trash? Also, even if it is trash, out of curiousity, what do you call the gold color?

Thank you so much for all your help.

Appears silver plated and the gold is probably the copper base metal showing through the worn silver. A fairly common technique on sterling silver drinkware is gold wash, a thin plating of gold on part of the item, but your item is silverplated. No value.
