Britannia silver

Any information on the hallmarks on this piece of silver please.

Your ingot pendant was assayed in Sheffield in 1977 and has the special 25 year jubilee commemorative mark authorised for that year. It is Britannia standard silver (.958) and not the more normal sterling (.925). The sponsor, JD, is not known to me.

Phil

Thanks for that phil, I have another one with initials RC w

hom i believe to be a R. Carr.

Yes, it is. Carrs of Sheffield is a large silverware company still in business.

Thanks for that phil, i have been trying to find out who JD is on the other pendant but drawn a blank.

Do they still produce items in .958 britannia silver.
