Broke while I was cleaning it. Nothing special preisner mid century, but I’d like to fix it if I can and don’t think it’s worth sending to a silversmith. The weighting in it looks like wax that is old and hard. Any suggestions?
Thanks
That rather depends on your skill with a soldering iron, what the metals you propose to solder and a few other unknowns.
Generally those in the trade find prior attempts by well-meaning owners counter-productive

Maybe I’ll just try to steady it with the hot glue gun. If that fails I guess it’s off to the shelter
Presuming this is a sterling silver bud vase it would be well worth five minutes with a soldering iron
But if you do not have the equipment it will cost you more to buy it than to get a trained journeyman to complete the job for you and I happen to know you have three very good ones in Toronto.
Now there are all sort of folks who can solder. Just call up any plumber. But don’t they will do it wrong.

Wow, surprised that they are trying to get that much for it. But won’t solder melt the old wax and make a mess of it? Worth a try I guess.
That kid looks a little young to be doing soldering but thanks for the tip
That old wax appears to be an old candle someone has jammed in there to hold it together pro tem. It needs removing completely given that that is the case.
The “ask” on Ebay doe not reflect value. It reflects the high fees Ebay now charges and the cost of post.
Typically Ebay is 200% of value at real auction.
Here’s three period bud vases soldfor for $US175. plus buyer premium
