Dessert Spoon "Nepal Silver"

Please could someone give me some infor

mation about the mark on the back of this dessert spoon?
Thank you

Your spoon is definitely not silver. There was a fashion during the late 19th century for makers of flatware and cutlery to use their own exotic-sounding names for their basic white metal goods. Thus we have names like Bengal Silver, Nevada Silver, Potosi Silver all applied to what is now known as nickel silver. None of these alloys have any silver content whatsoever and I am certain that Nepal Silver falls into the same category. The manufacturer’s mark is that of John Gallimore of Sheffield.
