Does anyone understand the meaning of this stamp?

Hi everyone, I just bought two silver forks. There are some markings on them that I don’t quite understand. Are they from the UK? Are they sterling silver?

Cased pair of 20th century US-make pickle forks. Since they don’t have the word “sterling” on them and since Americans are rarely shy about declaiming silver content, if there is any, I would work from the presumption they are plate with faux UK hallmarks.

If you just purchased them, presumably the seller was able to tell you where (s)he got them.

I took a quick look through my lists of US 19th and 20th century platers and didn’t find one that fitted precisely which means nothing. I mean, if you’re going to fake hallmarks, why would you draw the line as not including your real trade mark?

Anyway, hopefully you like spearing pickles, in which case these two forks can provide you and a close friend with hours of endless fun.

Yes, I had looked at that mark and couldn’t decide is if was “EP” for Electroplate or “CP” for Copper Plated or something else entirely.

However I am grateful for your vote on the matter.
