Picked this up today, its about 5ilbs . Thought it was for a botle of wine , possibly spittoon. Thanks for the help.
For sure it is pewter but that does not answer your question.

Just to back up Rox’s identification of pewter, the key point is the 95% which conventionally indicates the proportion of tin in the alloy.
Am internet search for “pewter lion scorpion” shows a few sightings of this mark including one which claims that it has been seen on a piece with a “Made in Thailand” sticker, but the relevant image link is no longer active. There is also a set of candlesticks on the big auction site with this mark, but without identification.
