I was just helping my grandfather go through his silverware when we came across this hallmark. The other pieces of silverware were from Birmingham but this one perplexes us. I am stuck and cannot find anything with a genie lamp and NOTHING else. There are not other symbols on this piece. Sorry for the terrible photos, it was the best I could do.
Without a fineness mark the napkin ring is unlikely to be silver; Roberts & Belk of Sheffield used an oil lamp as their trade mark so it could be electroplate by them.
Thank you Phil for your response.
If it is not silver, then what could it be? Just looking for other leads so I can identify what it is. If you can’t give me any pointers, then thank you for your assistance anyway.
Nevermind, I’ve just read your original comment again.
