I have two pieces that I would like to have more information on.
The first is Mexican and I would like to confirm the silversmith and approximate date. I believe the artist could be A. Solis M. in Taxco, but would like to confirm and perhaps have a more complete name and probable date when it was made. See photos:
The second item I suspect could be Navajo, but a search on Y. A. Smith does not reveal much information. Would really like to confirm origin, artist, and date for this item also. See photos:
Navajo master silversmith Patrick A. Smith, born on the Arizona side of the Navajo Reservation, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. He also received the Arlene Feddes Scholarship for “Excellence in Art” from the Southwestern Association of Indian Arts.
“Mexico TS-36 ASM” refers to vintage Mexican sterling silver jewelry, specifically items marked with ASM (likely a maker’s mark) and TS-36 (possibly a design or model number/silversmith code) along with 925 (indicating sterling silver) and “Hecho en Mexico,” denoting quality handcrafted silver pieces from Taxco or other Mexican silver centers, often featuring tribal or modernist designs with brass accents or turquoise.
925: The purity mark for sterling silver (92.5% silver).
ASM: A specific hallmark, possibly for a silversmith or workshop like “Arte Sterling Mexico” or similar.
TS-36: This is likely a unique identifier, possibly a silversmith registration number (like “TS” for Taxco Silver) or a specific design code within the ASM workshop’s catalog.
