this is on a box with silver trim / border. I suspect silver plate, however I can’t seem to identify maker or date from the marks. Thank you all in advance for your help.
Electroplate is correct - note the second mark: backwards E + P. The first mark is HS over &H and is identified here (note the same EP mark) as Harwood, Sons & Harrington of Birmingham.

is the last mark the date letter Z?
No date letters on electroplate. It is probably just a symbol of no particular significance.
