Identification of marks

The ring has a London sterling silver hallmark with date letter d for 1959, The maker (or sponsor), SG, is not known to me.

Whoever SG is they have copied Georg Jensen’s famous chabocon sapphire and silver ring.

It’s a useful reminder of the limits of the veracity hall marks can impart.

They can tell you is something is sterling or otherwise and who made it and when but not if its original design or a flagrant copy of something else.

Only design patent legislation can attempt to do that and the slightest variation will take a device or design out of that also fairly limited protection.
