Is it solid silver? Thanks

I imagine this egg holder is for eggs. According to chatGPT, hot water is placed in the saucer to keep the eggs warm, which I don’t know if it’s true. The porcelain plate is English, but the metal frame isn’t. From the markings, I imagine it’s American or French. The metal looks like silver to me, but I haven’t found any markings to confirm this. I tested a small area with a touchstone and acid, and it tested positive for silver. What do you think, please?

Nice item , could the little dish possibly be either somewhere to place the Top of the egg when broken or a place to rest your spoon !!!.

Thank you Bartholomew! Looking online, I haven’t seen any of those egg holders with wear. I have three and none of them are worn. I think I’ll sand a small part of one to make sure it’s not solid silver.
