Is this a drinking cup?

I think that this footed cup actually looks a bit like a bowl but since it is 5 cm high and 7.5 cm wide it would be the right size for a drinking cup.
What use do you think it was originally intended for?

It is in great condition except for the hallmarks which are very worn, even more worn than in the pictures.

I would appreciate any kind of information you might have about it.

I have been trying to find out who the maker is. Obviously that is hard to tell when only half of the mark is still legible.

Anyway, my best guess is Thomas King. What do you think? Likely? Impossible?

It may be this unidentified TH with a rosette below, seen by me with a 1677 hallmark:

TH-RosetteBelow1

I think that the date letter is Q for 1673 but I have no idea what your piece is.

And his brother, Robert:

Many thanks to both of you! Interesting information and what lovely pieces of old silver.
I suppose I will never know exactly what this is but I will enjoy it nevertheless.

I agree that this is definitely the mark attributed, per Bartholomew’s links, as “probably Thomas King” by David Mitchell in Silversmiths in Elizabethan and Stuart London: Their Lives and Their Marks. So the mark which I thought was TH, rosette below, is actually TK, cinquefoil below.

I do read the word “probably” but still it is very nice to have a name.
