British Silver What is it?

Hello, i was wondering if anyone knew what this mark means on some flatware i have come across. I am guessing the “N S” may mean nickel silver?? Thanks for any help

It’s possible that NS is all part of the maker’s initials. A1 is normally used on electroplate, but I can’t find JANS (or JA) in any of my lists of electroplaters.
