Need help with makers name please

Hi,

Does anyone know what maker this is?

That’s silverplate from W.W. Harrison & Co, Sheffield:

ETA: I also notice that it appears that Harrison, at one time, was putting a little crown on his EP mark (for electroplate). After 1896, this use of the crown would have been illegal. That leads me to guess that your piece is from after that date. More precise dating is unlikely to be possible, unless someone stumbles onto one of Harrison’s old catalogs (a forlorn hope, I admit).

Perfect thank you. I could see the first 2 letters were ww but I couldn’t make out the third letter. Makes sense now you’ve said it it’s a small h I was reading it as a L. Not sure of the exact date either but definitely late 1800s early 1900s. Thank you again much appreciated.

It’s actually an uppercase H. In some Gothic lettering styles, that’s what an H looks like. Gothic lettering can be fiendishly difficult to read. Phil is better at it - I refer to him as “The Man of Letters.”

Haha ok well it looks like a small h to me it also looks like a L to me so shows what I know but I will definitely remember that cheers.
