Newbie: Help Identifying maker and year

I have a set of silver hair brushes which based on the hallmarks I believe to be associated with Birmingham makers. I would like to know if the maker and the year can be identified from the attached hallmarks.

Welcome to the forum, Mike. You have correctly identified the assay office as Birmingham. The maker is Alexander Clark & Co Ltd of Birmingham & Sheffield. This was a large silversmithing company which also had retail outlets in London. The date is a problem as it could be either 1913 (lower case “o”) or 1938 (upper case “O”). The company was using this mark during both years and I find it impossible to distinguish “o” from “O”.

Many thanks

Mike
