Silver tray with Phoenixes

Hi I am also wondering about this beautiful silver tray that is very heavy and has limited stamping on the back. Could anyone help shed information on its history please

Thanks in advance
Karen

Now, this is the real thing! The mark is a London sterling silver mark with the date letter “l” for the assay year 1746/47. The maker’s mark, WP, is that of William Peaston, a specialist salver maker.

Thank you for your exciting info Phil!
Any clue as to the value of something this old?

I suggest that you search Ebay’s “sold” listings for value - you should be able to find a salver of similar size and date.

Fabulous advice Phil- thanks again
