I found a plain bowl with the attached hallmark when going through some old family stuff. Can anyone help identify the marks? If silver, I guess it’s almost certainly not from the UK but I don’t know where it may have come from. Thanks for any help.
My guess is Twentyman & Company, Calcutta, India.
Active roughly from 1821 - 1854.
The mark on the right would be the tally mark. Used to identify the workman who finished the piece.
Snuffer, many thanks for your help. Since I wrote yesterday, I have discovered a matching cup, and attach a photo of both objects. Calcutta makes sense, given the employment of some members of my family at that time! Thanks again HTIS.
