Trying to identify this silver object any ideas.
We’ll need more info, and more photos. If there are any marks at all on the back of this object, please give us large, clear, closeup photos of them. You may find that your phone camera does a better job at this than you might suspect - bring the camera to within a few inches of the surface, and the camera might automatically switch to its macro mode.
Also, how large is this?
So when you did a google image search what did you come up with?
I got “decorative metal eschutcheon likely from a door or a piece of furniture featuring four prominent spheres superimposed upon a leafy design”.
What AI didn’t pick up was the soft silver repair or patch and the remnant of bronzing or gold leaf.
Maybe it’s color blind.
Google also provided me with half a dozen equally enigmatic. (not Trump enigmatic real enigmatic) similar buttons.
Because I don’t know from your description how big it is hazarding a guess is tough. If its button size then a button, if its furniture size then what GPT Chat says if it’s bigger then a Saxon buckler.
The first rule every one learns going to court is the question you ask and how you frame it always determines the answer. The second rule you learn is letting the respondent have too much leeway is never rewarded and the third is the question is always more important than the answer.
So while the picture remains a mystery I am able to conclude a couple of things about you. First you have better things to do than hang around court rooms and second you have an older Iphone.

Here are more photos, the object is 50mm in diameter and between 3mm thick with nobbles protruding by 2mm and weighs 85 grams non magnetic [grid]

Doesn’t look like there are any marks on the back at all, which means that we’re left with speculation.
BTW, the “magnet test” tells you only that it isn’t iron. Nothing more. Most other metals are non-magnetic.
I would guess at a brooch or a boss of some sort !!!, I also wanted it to be a Celtic cloak clasp . Anyone else think it has an Islamic feel to it ? ![]()
Rosette for a door or gate.

I quite like the fact that somethings remain a mystery.
