1907 JMR Lace trophy - please help with origin and marks?

Hi There,

Please help me, we moved into an old house, well old for South Africa and found a trophy that is inscrbed with " J.M.R Lace Trophy 1907" and has the markings as shown on the attached photo.

Any information would be so appreciated!
