Any idea on hallmark on old ring?

An old antique ring.

The photo isn’t really sharp enough to make out the mark to the right of “STERLING.” Try holding your phone camera very close to the mark, and you might find that it automatically shifts into a very good macro mode. Alternatively, please try to describe what the mark looks like to you.

Frustrating. It’s clearly something & something, but I can’t make out the letters.

The fact that it says STERLING narrows the search a bit, at least. Most likely from the U.S or Canada, but it could also be Mexico, Denmark, or any number of Commonwealth countries (but not the U.K. itself). But that still leaves thousands of possibilities, without a clear starting point for the search.

Whole item photo, please.
