I’m looking for help identifying a silver fork I found metal detecting in Massachusetts. It’s 6.5" long, has decoration/markings only on the back, and the three hallmarks are mostly rubbed smooth. At the top, there’s a crowned lion holding a heart above a gothic “JA” – I assume this is the owner’s family crest? Below, I see an anchor for Birmingham silver, but I cannot identify the next hallmark. The third one is all but gone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can’t give an accurate identification but I can say with certainty that this is not a Birmingham anchor mark, mainly due to the punch shape. It may be an American mark, especially considering where it was found.
Possibly Scottish provincial, the anchor mark followed possibly by an oak tree are marks associated with Greenock. However the placement of the marks is unusual for British silver.

Interesting. The closer I look at the anchor, the more it looks like there’s a rope crossing the vertical bar. Any ideas? The second mark looks like a right-facing bust to me. I can’t find anything for either of those, however.
