Does anyone recognize this griffin? mark ?

This mark appears to be a griffin rather than a lion (because of what looks like a wing) with a W in a shield shape

Anyone recognize it ? It’s on a small bowl (images below)

UPDATE: It looks like an old pre 1905 Whiting mark before they were absorbed into Gorham, since it has none of the date marks. Leaving this here for reference in case someone else is looking for it

Looks like Whiting to me too.

I found this W & Griffin mark on a Gorham Whiting “Pompadour pattern” spoon marked GOODMAN BROS. with a 1898 patent date.

Not sure if this image upload is going to work…silver wine coaster stamped on the bottom with a griffin(?) and the letter “W”.

It has my grandmother’s initials and if it was a wedding present, it would date to 1912.

Yes, that’s the Whiting maker’s mark, from before they were absorbed into Gorham. So, probably earlier than your grandmother’s wedding by at least a few years - but the same era.
