The watch case was assayed in Chester in either 1865 or 1871 (“b” for 1865 or “h” for 1871) and made by George Reader who is listed in the Chester register as a watch manufacturer at 1 Hertford Place, Coventry. The date letter on the ball looks more like a “b” than an “h”.
