Please could someone I’d the hallmark and use of this strangely bowled spoon

Odd hallmark, indeed. The lion passant is very English, but the crowned shield certainly isn’t. I’d guess that it’s 19th Century Canadian silver (or silverplate).

Odd shape - must be for use by the sharp-tongued.
