Hi there,
I have recently acquired this sterling sugar shovel. I know a lot of these came out of Birmingham, however this one appears to have a London duty stamp. The maker appears to be double struck, but I am having no luck with identification.
Would anyone be able to help or steer me in the right direction?
Thank you in advance,
Will
In fact this is not a London mark, nor is it even British. Although I can’t name the maker this has all the attributes of Chinese export silver.
Phil
Heavens! Thanks for that info Phil. That’s a real curve-ball. Any idea on possible age? And is there an online reference that you could recommend for researching Chinese export silver marks?
Thank you again for your help,
Will
Mid-19th century to early 20th century appears to be peak time for this sort of ware. The best site I know of for these marks (Chinese Export Silver Marks I - Online Encyclopedia of Silver Marks, Hallmarks & Makers' Marks) doesn’t show a WK.
Thanks Phil, you’ve been really helpful.
