Value isn’t simple, but weigh the set, and take a look at the current spot price of silver. That will get you into the ballpark.

Thank you very much for replying. I will weigh it as advised. Apologies for another question, but is there a recommended website to look a current silver prices/places to sell? Thank you

Ebay’s “Sold” listings will give you some idea. I just had a look and similar sets are selling from 50 to 160 GBP.

Just a quick look, and the sets aren’t selling for much over melt value, if anything at all. Not uncommon these days, unless you’re talking about something with more “collectable” value, like genuine Georgian silver.

To find the spot price of silver, just Google it - it’s pretty much the same everywhere. Then remember that sterling is not pure silver, so multiply by .925. Then you have to figure in a scrap metal dealer’s profit margin - they’re not a charity. And don’t forget that you’d have to ship the set to a dealer, so you want to find someone local, if possible.

At the end of the day, you might well find that you should just polish up the set, use it, and enjoy it.

Thanks again for your reply. Yes, I think that is probably the best idea… I’ll get some silver polish, get them polished up and either use them or pass them down to my kids one day . Thanks again

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it
