Help for the value please!

Please help, is this bonbonnier genuine? does it have real value, if has how much? I found no markings, but just a little marking behind it there is ‘E’ letter. It was gifted from my dad to my mom but they don’t remember its value, they only remember that it is bought from a silver store. Thanks in advance

If there are no markings, it’s not sterling silver - just silverplate. If it were in pristine condition, it might have some modest decorative value. But it’s looking pretty sorry - hard to tell from the photos, but it looks like some of the plate is worn away, showing the base metal beneath it. In short, it’s probably worth almost nothing.

I wouldn’t dismiss it as “worth almost nothing” just because it has no (British) markings. This is a very known silver basket in Neorococo style. I saw it in Austria, Romania, Germany, and if my memory is right, I saw an identical object at an auction house in Austria selling for 500-600 euros

I didn’t say that it should have UK hallmarks. But if it were sterling from virtually any European or North American silver maker, I would expect it to have some mark beyond a tiny “E.”

First step is to try to polish it, and see if there is plate loss. Second step is to have it assayed. Without any marking, no one can say exactly what it is. It would be little more than guesswork.
