Help identifying ngraved face on British silver spoon handle

Here’s what a Cappuccin Friar looks like, Note the long pointed hood or Cappucci, the striking feature of otherwise rather basic friar togs.

Completely absent on this silver caster spoon rendering which may well have been based on the crest reproduced in Fairbairn.

A quick look at the history of All Saints Church just down the road from Barrington Hall indicates no obvious link with the Friars. Today that church claims to be as much a community meeting centre as a place of denominational religion, sitting as it does on the edge of the largest village green anywhere – 22 acres of it.

Mind you the local church and the local families may run separate courses, but the Barringtons, like all the Roman Catholic families living in England in the times of the Tudors and even the ostensibly protestant Stuarts, cut their coats to fit the cloth available while clinging to core belief as best was possible.

Further and better is needed.
