Not necessarily. Spoons would do. But the range will need to be much less than twenty paces.

Gosh Jeff, you seem like a great guy but spooning at close quarters?
With spoons, size is always important. Do you prefer basting or stuffing or would 12 inches be too much? Is nine inches on the table or would you dessert the field if it was over seven?
Many people find five suits them to a tea, but the demi-tasse crowd have their needs too.
Whatever it is I am sure you will bowl us all over with a straight shank.
For my part I am afraid it is old English, but if you want to fiddle around a bit, I expect you can thread your way through and shell out when appropriate.
And that just leaves how you want to handle it? Dognose or treffid? Anything but apostle is fine. There are still places where religion just isn’t a good fit.
