I recently bought this piece (I think it’s a snuff box or a powder box maybe?) in Portugal. Just curious to know more information about it and the marks that are on it! Thanks for the help 
Tough to make out, but the mark on the right appears to be an eagle’s head (look at it rotated 90° anti-clockwise), Roman 2 (II), in a rectangular punch. That would make it the Porto Assay Office, .833 fineness (Roman 1 would be .916), sometime between 1887 and 1937.
Not sure what the J and the 97 signify - perhaps a maker and model number?
