Help to identify a spoon please!!!!

Hello,

I’m new to the forum and need some help to identify the maker of a spoon. I’ve recently cleared out my late Nana,s house and found many things, so far we have been able to identify a few things, but I,m having trouble with this spoon, especially the makers initials also has T W S engraved on the handle. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you in advance

Hi there,
The London assay marks are for the year 1786, with, I would suggest, the maker’s mark of Hester Bateman.
The T.W.S. would be the initials of the owners of what was the complete silver service.
Regards
John

That form of initials on the handle is normally taken to indicate a marriage; i.e. the spoon might have belonged to, for example, William and Susan Taylor.

Thank you so much for the swift reply, really really appreciate that! Thanks a million and a happy new year x
