Recently had a grandparent pass away and we’ve been going through everything they left for us.
These pieces were found in a box in a cupboard and we have no clue where they’re from/how old they are but we’d love to find out. Any advice on whether or not we should clean them or how to clean them without damaging would be greatly appreciated.
Your pieces are all electroplated. The hot water jug in your first picture was made by Cooper Brothers & Sons of Sheffield. The other pieces have generic electroplate marks with no indication of manufacturer.
Yes, you should certainly clean them - they will look a whole lot better. Use a good quality silver polish. As electroplate comprises a thin layer of pure silver on a base metal you don’t want anything abrasive which will take away too much silver.
