HELP TO IDENTIFY THIS PLEASE

CAN ANYONE HELP TO TELL ME WHAT THIS ITEM IS PLEASE ? IT LOOKS LIKE A CAR MASCOT OR SIMILAR ON THE FRONT IS A MAN LOOKING UP AT 3 SPACESHIPS WITH BEAMS OF LIGHT ?

The hallmark shows that it was assayed in London in 1957 and that the maker was William Comyns & Sons Ltd (RC is the initials of Richard Comyns). I agree that it looks like a car mascot. I think that the image may be of searchlights with clouds, although I also think that they might have gone to a bit more effort to make them look cloud-like if that’s what they are. The G at the top is clearly also significant, but of what, I don’t know.
