HELP!!! Trying to identify the markings on a set of forks.

Hi all. When my Grandfather died he left behind a lot of unusual things that no one knew what they were or where they came from. One of the things was a set of seven forks. They have a stamp on them (pictured). Searched the internet but cannot find any helpful information. Would like to know what the stamp means and would like to know if they are solid silver or plated etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your forks are by Elkington & Co of Birmingham. Unfortunately they are not silver, nor even silver plate. The letters in the stamp on the right are NS which stands for nickel silver. This is a base metal alloy which, bizarrely, contains no silver at all, being made up of nickel, zinc and copper.
