Help with butter dish cap hallmarks

Hi,

I’ve been trying to work out the maker and date hallmarks on this cow topper of a butter dish. Any help would be mightily appreciated

Many thanks,

Ben

The maker’s mark appears to be TINC, which would be Creswick and Co (Thomas, James, and Nathaniel Creswick).

And that leads to a probable date of Sheffield, 1846. The lack of the Victoria duty mark is the only puzzle.

Duty mark?

Possible - it might be hidden behind the little piece in front of it.

ETA: And the duty mark would be in an oval, so the barely-visible right side of it would match that profile.

It is also possible, as this is only part of the complete item, that this is a partial hallmark with another partial mark on the rest of the piece.
