Hi-
Does anyone recognize this mark? It looks like DVNS and two crossed swords. Also, can anyone tell what this spoon is made of? It doesn’t quite look like sterling or pewter.
Thank you in advance!

I’m going to guess this is silver-plated, barring any marks saying otherwise. That DVNS is likely a maker’s mark, but unfortunately I have no idea who it is. It’d be helpful if there were other markings that might at least narrow it down to a specific country.
I have a similar hallmark and am largely striking out on identifying it.
The mark looks very old, but the pattern is spare and reminiscent of Scandinavian design.
Hi, not sure if it still helps, but this is the mark of the “Vereinigte Deutsche Nickelwerke Schwerte” (VDNS or sometimes DVNS). Without any other stamp indicating a plating or actual silver content, it is likely made only of “Neusilber”, a Copper-Nickel-Zink alloy with 10-26% Nickel, which is highly resistant to corrosion.
Cheers,
Caithlinn
