I have this big spoon with some marks on the handle. I am trying to figure out how I would about identifying them.?
Stumped on this one. I can’t find either set of initials in any of the reference sites. The first set appears to be H&TM. The second set is JW. I’m coming up blank on both of them.
It’s certainly not sterling, in any case - these are not true hallmarks. And that’s where it gets difficult. There has never been any organized system of registering the marks of makers of electroplate. The makers stamped their pieces with whatever they fancied. And there were hundreds and hundreds of them - probably thousands. Many have never been identified.
